Charlie Tyler is a singer, songwriter and producer whose aim is to make modern pop music. 

Already armed with an impressive catalogue; Charlie  talks to us about her love for music and her plans for the future.

“I have always been around music and would listen to whatever my parents would play me. However no one in my family is musical so therefore it came as quite a shock when I decided I wanted to pursue it as a career. I had always loved singing but was a very shy child and the biggest turning point for me was going to an Ellie Goulding concert (one of my biggest inspirations)and just feeling so inspired by her performance and at that point I knew I wanted to take it more seriously.” 

Charlie has a wide variety of influences. Her main inspirations being classic pop artists that style radiates into her own music.

“Some of my biggest influences and inspirations are Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, Ellie Goulding, Kate Bush + Taylor Swift. I love any innovative pop music from artists that create an individual sound.” 

Charlie’s latest EP was titled Surrender the Ghosts. It is a mix of alt-pop and Charlie showcasing her incredible vocal talent and vulnerability on more melancholy track  ‘Long way to fall’

“The music I released at the end of 2021 is a result of my first ever attempts at recording. I had the simple policy of writing and if I loved it I released it without too much planning. I found myself experimenting with sounds and different types of pop genre. The inspiration was simply the joy of creating music and sharpening my story telling while trying to find my own voice and not following the standard pop production.“

When asked her favourite track from her EP it was the aforementioned ‘Long way to fall’ 

“From my second EP ‘Surrender The Ghosts’, my favourite track is most definitely Long Way To Fall. I am an absolute sucker for ballads and as soon as Russ and I started working on this track, I absolutely fell in love with the vulnerability, sentiment and vibe we were able to create.”

Surrender the Ghosts definitely proves Charlie’s skills as a songwriter and artist. 

“I hope to continue to work towards becoming the most accomplished and truthful artist that I can. That means being the best performer, musician and songwriter I can be. I’d love to reach as many people as possible of course but I need to earn that. I am currently recording my first album and then I intend to play as many shows as I can as live performance is everything to me”
